EXPLORING INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE FACULTY OF TARBIYAH AND TEACHER TRAINING (FTIK) UIN K.H. ABDURRAHMAN WAHID PEKALONGAN AND RECSAM MALAYSIA, INSTITUT PENDIDIKAN GURU, AND UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA

On Wednesday (14/12), Leaders of FTIK UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan visited Penang to explore international collaboration with the Regional Center for Education in Science and Mathematics. There, the leaders discussed some issues related to the implementation of the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi. In the field of education, increasing the competence of students and lecturers in terms of computational thinking drew more attention to the moment of discussion between the FTIK leaders and RECSAM representatives. The discussion on computational thinking has received special attention because the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training is currently building a culture of computational thinking and its application in problem solving processes in everyday life. Moreover, FTIK leaders also visited Southeast Asia Elementary and Middle School Science Competition. In this competition, the FTIK Leaders also witnessed one of the works of the Indonesia’s children who participated in the competition, such as a cane for the blind to the construction of earthquake-resistant houses. This meeting with RECSAM representatives resulted in several points of agreement for the development of the two institutions, such as student exchanges, lecturer collaborative research, and humanitarian action programs between lecturers.

 

At the second location, namely Institut Pendidikan Guru, FTIK leaders discussed a lot about the STEM integrative learning model. With the Institut Pendidikan Guru, FTIK leaders agreed on a student exchange program. At the third location, namely the Universiti Sains Malaysia, the discussion that mostly occurred was about science humanization programs, such as the topic of Ethnomathematics. With the University of Science Malaysia, the FTIK leadership agreed on a guest lecturer and collaborative research program.
